Telehealth Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if Physical Therapy is right for me at this time?

You may be wondering if seeking physical therapy care is important or appropriate at this time. Everyone is concerned about COVID-19 and we all need to do our part in reducing its spread. At the same time, many physical injuries and conditions will worsen quickly if they do not get the appropriate physical therapy care. We are here and ready to talk to you about your treatment options, whether in-clinic or virtual/remote, and what may be appropriate for you at this time. To schedule an appointment please call 817-498-8585 or send us an email, newpatient@premierrehab.org.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth physical and occupational therapy services are provided over a technology platform like a smartphone, tablet or computer. This includes a comprehensive evaluation plus education and will likely include practice with exercises, posture and position changes and pain relief methods. It will also include strategies to help accelerate your healing process and prevent future injury. Enabling video for these sessions is extremely valuable as your therapist will be able to observe your movements and have a high-quality interactive session with you.

What equipment do I need?

Telehealth visits are conducted through audio-video chat on a device equipped with a camera such as a desktop, laptop, smartphone or tablet. During this time, our goal is to make this process as easy as possible. Patients are contacted via text message or e-mail and simply asked to click on a link to start the session.

Will I be able to work with my regularly scheduled therapist?

We will make every effort to connect you with your regularly scheduled therapist for each of these sessions.  If this is not possible you will be connected with another Empower Physical Therapist with your approval.

Will my insurance cover my Telehealth visit?

In most cases, yes. Empower has worked with Governors in their emergency declarations and insurance companies to ensure that all care can continue uninterrupted during this emergency. We will work directly with you and your insurance company to meet your individual needs.
